Saturday, Nov. 21 day 2 in Israel

We were up early this morning to start our first full day in Israel. Some of us were able to sleep until the wake up call came at 7am but some of us are still waking up at 2 or 3 am ready to start the day. We are hoping our bodies will adjust to the new time zone in the next day.
Our breakfast was great with lots of fruit, cereal, and a few hot dishes to choose from. Because we were still in their sabbath not everything was available, but I will let your family or friends explain all that to you.
Right after breakfast we made our first stop at Caesarea where King Herod had built palace. Even though Jesus never journeyed to Caesarea, many of his apostles did. Pastor Gordon Reeve has used the theme "I can only Imagine" so as we sat in the theatre overlooking the Mediterranean we could only imagine Paul coming to Caesarea and preaching. It was also here that Paul was held as prisoner for a short time before he was sent to Rome. It was a warm morning so as we walked through the hippodrome and along the sea wall, and watched some fisherman our thoughts went back 2000 years ago when this had been a vibrant city.
After Caesarea we travelled to Megiddo and overlooked the Jezreel valley or the valley of the Armageddon. We could see the city of Nazereth, Cana, Mt Tabor in the distance. From Megiddo we went to Mount Carmel where Elijah's prophecy and prayer for rain occured. Then we went to a Druz restaurant we had our first falafel. I don't believe I heard any complaints on how good the food was. We finished the day by visiting Akko, one of the oldest seaports in the world and witnessed a beautiful sunset over the Mediterranean. Back to our Kibbutz for a short rest before our evening dinner - again a great spread of food. Sure can't say we are going hungry.
It was a full day, alot to absorb.
Tomorrow we travel to Mt Tabor, Nazareth, Beth Shean, and Gideon's Brook where we will have our first picnic.
I'm not sure who, but I did hear that some may have even gone swimming in the Mediterranean this morning.
Tomorrow night we will be staying on the sea of Galilee.
Ed and Alice want to say good night to their daughter Rebecca.
Good night to all of you. God Bless!
Glenda
